September 20: “It Pays To Advertise” at East Lynne Theater Company

East Lynne’s latest production opened last night, 98 years after it original opening on Broadway in 1914. Amazingly, its premise is still relevant, but then again, that’s how East Lynne Theater Company rolls, keeping timeless American classics alive on stage. Boasting a cast of 10, the screwball comedy “It Pays To Advertise” was twice made into a film, and delves into the very premise of advertising: that anything and everything can be sold. It’s clearly a concept that’s still alive and well, given the runaway success of the AMC television series “Mad Men.” The play runs Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8pm through October 13 (with no show on October 3, and an added show on Sunday, October 7), at the intimate First Presbyterian Church. Tickets are $30, $25 for seniors, and $15 for students – visit www.eastlynnetheater.org for more information.
